City of Wyoming welcomes new deputy city manager, starting Dec. 1

WYOMING, Mich. -- Nicole Hofert has years of municipal experience that should come handy when she begins her new job on December 1 as Wyoming's new deputy city manager.

The city said in a news release sent to WOOD Radio that Hofert will oversee many functions in city government, including directing various projects and serving as a liaison between the city manager and department heads, community groups, boards, and designated government agencies.

“Nicole will bring a diverse skill set to this role that will help us continue to grow as an organization that serves our whole community,” City Manager John Shay said. “Her experience here at the City has prepared her to lead us into the future and work seamlessly with our staff and community partners. We look forward to her leadership as we face challenges and opportunities together.”

Hofert brings 11 years of progressive experience in planning and economic development and strong management experience. She most recently served as director of community and economic development for the City of Wyoming, where she was responsible for overseeing and implementing the City’s master plan, Wyoming [re]Imagined.

Prior to her seven-year career with the City of Wyoming, Hofert worked with architecture and planning firms supporting municipal projects for a variety of clients. Hofert will begin her new role on December 1st.

Hofert is a certified planner and a member of the American Planning Association. She has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Case Western University and a master’s degree in city design and social science from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
